Youth Programs
Kiwanis International is a "family" of organizations that
The Upland Foothill Kiwanis sponsors youth clubs:
- Key Clubs meet weekly at Upland and Alta Loma High Schools to plan community service projects, raise funds, and learn leadership skills. Approximately 100 young people at each site engage in activities at their high schools. In addition, they provide valuable assistance to the adult Kiwanis club at major service projects like the Easter Egg Hunt, Concerts at the Park, Elementary School Track Meet, and the Senior Holiday Party.
- Builders Clubs meet every other week during the school year at Pioneer and Upland Junior High Schools. Again they help in activities at their school and neighborhood.
- K
Kids are our youngest leaders – 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at Citrus and Sierra Vista Elementary Schools in Upland. While most of their projects are on campus, they collect can pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House, pennies for Juvenile Diabetes, and newspaper and pet food for the Upland Animal Shelter. The K Kids at Sierra Vista adopted a nearby convalescent home and provide small gifts to the residents on their birthdays (even during the summer when they don’t meet).
Our sponsored youth groups independently initiate service projects and community service activities throughout the school year. Our club works through an adviser in each youth organization to coordinate our participation
As part of Kiwanis District 15, Upland-Foothill Kiwanis also supports the AKTION Club at PVW (formerly Pomona Valley Workshop). This group of over 100 developmentally delayed adults is filled with enthusiastic community workers who raise funds for Pediatric Trauma Prevention, participate in community walk-a-thons, and many other activities.
